Job Description: PRIMARY PURPOSE
This Embedded Chaplain will further the goals and vision of Spiritual Life by working closely with leadership of the Graduate School to provide programing for pastoral care and discipleship to graduate students in online professional programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· 3 hours – Meetings with leadership for planning, supervision, and partnering. (Note - supervision will involve mentoring with Spiritual Life as well as supervisory meetings with the Graduate School).
· 3 hours – Convening and supporting a collaborative team comprised of student volunteers within the program, faculty and staff, and campus ministry and local church partners.
· 10 hours facilitating spiritual growth opportunities such as spiritual direction groups, Bible studies, and topical discussions on relevant topics for adult students, retreats and quiet days, and mission and service opportunities.
· 4 hours – Offering pastoral care for students in need, which will include making timely referrals to various Baylor resources.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
• As appropriate and needed, assist with and participate in special events and programs facilitated by Spiritual Life or the Graduate School
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree
• Other Educational Requirements/Preferences: must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student, preferably at Truett Seminary
• Some relevant background and experience in ministry and/or academic life
