CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 2: either the post holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or the post holder will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore a criminal record self-declaration will be required(at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries).
ROLE PURPOSE:
Based in one of Save the Children’s area offices, the post holder will provide IT support, both technical and management, to the regional office on and associated field offices.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Head of Area Office (based in area) and IT Manger (based in Yangon)
Staff reporting to this post: None
Budget Responsibilities: None
Role Dimensions: Regular contact with mid-level counterparts for the purposes of trouble-shooting and provision of equipment and services.
Travel: Frequent (over 9 days per month)
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
Hardware and software support
- Provide day to day technical support to Field Offices to ensure good operation of varied IT systems within the region. The post holder will be required to provide both remote and in person support.
- In coordination with head office, support the roll out of IT applications, initiatives and training within the region, working with a variety of internal stakeholders.
- Work with third parties and service providers to resolve IT related issues.
- Maintain relationships with regional vendors, in support of the provision of IT equipment to field offices.
- Conduct regular electrical safety checks on equipment.
- Support in developing and maintenance of all electronic information storage and its structure
- Maintain and upgrade all hardware and software systems
- Assist in procurement of software and hardware for procurement
Assessment and planning
- Complete monthly reporting to head office around IT assets, issues, performance in field offices, and identify and assess needs and trends.
- Monitor changes to accessibility of internet in all field sites, including actively checking with service providers for changes in delivery, and testing availability and performance during field office visits.
- Proactively advise the regional and field offices on usage of IT, and ensure they are supplied with fit-for-purpose IT equipment sufficient to their needs, supporting the inclusion of resources in funding proposals, prioritisation of purchases against existing budget, and sourcing items from closed projects though Save the Children’s logistics and warehouse staff.
- Ensure the effective and efficient use of all SC resources in order to keep costs low and ensure the safety security of staff.
Staff support and capacity building
- Provide training and capacity building to field office staff as required, typically on changes in IT policy and systems, and basic IT functionality, and provide IT induction to all new staff within the region.
- Support a network of IT contact point persons within field offices (possessing varying degrees of technical IT ability and experience) to ensure good IT functionality.
Other

PERSON SPECIFICATION
- 3 years’ experience working in IT roles in a large organisation, with experience working in a large NGO preferred
- University degree and/or specification in computer science or other relevant subject
- Strong troubleshooting knowledge of Microsoft OS (including Windows 10) and software
- Microsoft, CISCO or equivalent certifications will be an advantage
- Experience configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining email clients, computer and network equipment, and with a willingness to learn new technology
- Good English language communication skills preferred, both written and verbal
- Experience working with, and providing support and training to, colleagues with varied understanding of IT systems and procedures
- Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation developing flexible and effective working relationships to deliver outstanding results
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
