Job Details
Co-ordinate the day to day delivery of home care to service users.
Ensure that work is allocated appropriately to Home Carers. Respond to service changes i.e. new allocations, respite, suspensions.
Liaise with service user, Home Carer and other partner services.
Ensure cover for service users re Home Carer absence, e.g. sickness, training, annual leave.
Monitor quality of the service delivered and adherence of Home Carers to service policies/procedures by carrying out service user reviews in line with statutory requirements and by conducting quality checks.
Provide onsite support by conducting risk assessments and implementing measures to address areas of risk management.
Ensure that all documentation in relation to service delivery is current and reflects the needs of service users – i.e. Care Plans, Moving and Handling plans and service users records.
Support on site with training, advice, etc.
Conduct Call-in Stations - a facility for the allocation of work, arranging cover, time sheets, issuing of information etc. (where appropriate).
Be responsible for the operation of a Home Care service for a defined geographical and operational area.
Liaise with Home Carers and service users in terms of service delivery and resolve any operational difficulties that may arise
Ensure all Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered
Responsibilities:
- The key responsibilities of the role are aligned to first line, effective staff management.
- You will be responsible for provision of formal supervision for all Home Care staff within a defined geographical and operational area.
- You will be expected to engage with field-based staff to discuss specific service user issues, and adopt a problem solving approach to ensure positive outcomes and whilst promoting best practice in care standards.
- This will also include identification of training and development requirements, where appropriate, for staff within an operational area, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- You will also be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of work in relation to personnel issues e.g. Attendance Management, Disciplinary, Grievance, annual leave, termination, accident/incident forms etc. is dealt with in accordance with policies, procedures and processes set down by the Council, which may also include where appropriate assisting the Investigating Officer in relation to breaches of discipline, grievances and complaints.
The Person
Applicants are required to have significant experience in a Social Work or similar care environment and hold a minimum 4 Standard Grades (Level 3 or above) or equivalent, and should have numeracy, literacy and IT skills consistent with the requirements of the post.
Applicants should have the ability to provide a regular and effective service and are also expected to possess effective interpersonal and organisational skills and have the ability travel throughout Fife as and when required.
As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you`re registered within the required six months.
Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
You will save money on your SSSC fees as these will now be paid for all roles and grades by the Scottish Government
