We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated administrative assistants to join our newly-established Teaching Organisation (TO) Support Team in the College of Science and Engineering. The TO Support Team provides direct support within Schools in the College to cover peak periods and assist with short-term cover. The majority of the TO Support Team Assistants’ time will be spent on assignment based in Schools, with no less than one day per week spent working within the College Team.

Applicants should note that due to the nature of the role, this position will mainly be based on-campus, with time split between the King’s Buildings Campus and the Central Area.

The Opportunity:

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to gain comprehensive administrative assistant experience and build strong networks across the College of Science and Engineering, in a ‘fast-track’ style setting. TO Support Team Assistants will regularly rotate their roles around different Schools covering different (but related) areas of work, rapidly building up knowledge of key Teaching Organisation and wider Student Services functions, processes and systems. The Service will operate from the College Academic Affairs Team, and roles will include some core College-level tasks, promoting a partnership-approach across the College.

To support staff in developing up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge and skills and successfully integrating into Schools when on assignment, an induction and training framework will be in place. Staff will receive regular mentoring and development opportunities.

This opportunity will be of particular interest to anyone looking to launch a career in higher education administration.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a flexible and positive attitude to work.
  • Adaptability to work within different teams and locations.
  • Proven ability to plan and organise work activities and tasks, keeping track of progress of work.
  • Effective organisation and presentation of information/ documentation, with accuracy and good attention to detail.
  • Focus on providing high quality and consistent customer service.
