Responsibilities:

1. Learning Garrett FCC turbomachine function, especially AFB cooling circuit and related behavior
2. Developing ideas and test plans to characterize the airflow behavior in the AFB cooling circuit
3. Determining the “critical paths” debris must flow within the AFB cooling circuit
4. Develop tests to show the actual behavior of debris in AFB cooling circuit
5. Develop and conduct limit tests to show the limit of how debris can move and not move within the cooling circuit under worst-case conditions
6. Conduct final tests on actual machines to correlate the theory to reality
7. Create and submit a final report on all above, useful for customers  

 

Requirements:

• Skills required: mechanical engineering training at undergraduate or master level with knowledge of materials, aerodynamics, machines, and basic laboratory testing capabilities
• Duration: six months
