Job Details 

The Family Support Service within the Children & Families Service offers a range of services supporting families with children and young people (0-18 years) as part of a whole family approach.  The service offers:

  • A strength-based approach working with the whole family to respond to a range of wellbeing needs and concerns.
  • Relationship-based work building resilience and wellbeing. 
  • Works as part of a Team around the Child approach
  • Interventions informed by an assessment of wellbeing, needs and concerns.
  • Community-based services within the family home.

Key tasks include:

  • Providing practical support and advice to families to address wellbeing needs and concerns.
  • Working collaboratively with a range of partner agencies to promote wellbeing and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Responding to wellbeing needs; concerns and risks including child protection issues and taking appropriate action
  • Recording service user information and measuring impact of support
  • Delivery of evidence-based group work

The post involves some lone working, working flexibly. 

We pay the Scottish Local Government Living Wage for this post.

Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements

Educated to SCQF Level 7 which includes HNC or Advanced Highers or equivalent in one of the relevant fields of childcare, social care; health or community development.

The individual should have:

  • Experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and families and the ability to build effective relationships
  • Knowledge of assessment frameworks
  • Experience of delivering interventions which demonstrate impact and improve outcomes
  • Good communication and organisational skills including IT and report writing skills
  • Partnership working skills
  • Ability to travel within Fife
  • Ability to work as part of a Team and on own as required

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
