Finance Assistant (Office based)
As all countries around the globe are seeking new ways to address complex and interconnected challenges such as shocks from crises, economic stagnation, inequality and poverty, providing access to clean and affordable energy, protect the environment, or mitigating and adapting to climate change, UNDP aims to develop integrated responses to these issues.
The Finance Assistant will support the Finance Unit`s activities as follows:
- Assist in creating Invoices and new Vendors; keeping updates and following the appropriate approvals and executions in the Quantum System;
- Register in the Agency Service Portal (ASP) revenue all services rendered by UNDP;
- Support internal and external demands in service activities regarding doubts and clarifications regarding payment processes and suppliers;
- Support the Focal point for bank activities, scheduling, withdrawals, etc;
- Assist in the management of e-mail accounts of the Finance Unit for processing payments;
- Perform other activities related to the Finance Area.

- Finance/Anti-fraud and Anti-bribery and Corruption
- Anti-bribery and corruption: Understands the policy and best practice relating to anti-bribery and corruption controls and ensures these are implemented and widely understood within the organization.
- Anti-fraud:
- Understands the fraud risks faced by public bodies and is able to effectively analyse data to support fraud identification and fraud risk management.
- Understands the fraud risks faced by public bodies and is able to conduct fraud risk assessment and response plan
- Secondary education is required.
- Specialized certification in Accounting and/or Finance is desirable.
- A university degree in Finance or Accounting is desirable.
- Part-qualified accountants from an internationally accredited institute of accountancy will have a distinct advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years (for candidates with Secondary education) or 1 year (for candidates with University degree) of working experience in accounts payable/receivable finance, bank reconciliation and budget management.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.
- Experience in handling of web-based management systems.
- Relevant experience with the United Nations Common System or comparable international organization.
- Experience with ERP financials, preferably PeopleSoft is desirable.
- Knowledge of IPSAS and /or IFRS is desirable
- Fluency in the Portuguese language is required.
- Working knowledge in English is desirable.
