Your role
The Clerk/RFO (Responsible Financial Officer) provides administrative support to the Council, closely supporting the Chair in the running of meetings and advising the Council on policy and legislation to enable effective decisions to be made.
We are seeking someone who is committed to improving the community. You will need to have tenacity and motivation, along with a continued willingness to learn and reliability. Mentoring will be provided for successful applicant.
Your responsibilities
Preparing agendas, attending meetings, taking minutes, advising Councillors on procedural and legal matters, and progressing actions, as well as keeping policies and procedures under constant review.
Handling all incoming and outgoing correspondence and acting as the first point of contact for residents.
Managing the Council’s finances. Settlement of invoices, collection of newsletter income, VAT reclaim, budgeting, bank reconciliations, financial monitoring and reporting, preparation for internal audit and completion of year end procedures.
Coordinating and submitting responses to planning applications.
Uploading statutory information to the village website and notice boards. Along with some use of social media and other channels.
You will need:
- A CiLCA qualification would be advantageous, but not essential
- Proficiency with MS Office based software is essential.

Onehouse Parish Council is the first tier of local government closest to the community of Onehouse. It has an important role to play in promoting the parish by representing its interests. Within its limited remit. We aim to meet local needs, influence other decision makers and strive to improve the quality of parish life. The council represents the views of its community to improve or provide cost effective services and amenities. These can range from crime prevention measures, public waste collection, speed prevention measures and, to having the right to review, and comment upon, planning applications.

- Training and mentoring will be provided.
- Flexible working to meet the contracted 9 hours per week.
- Home working allowance £100 per quarter.
- Office equipment and mobile phone will be provided for council business.
